Call me ignorant, but what is a VITO letter? After a quick google-search, I figured out that VITO stands for Very Important Top Officer. "Ohhh, VITO!" Now that I know what a VITO is, I don't get why this letter should be different from any other business letter you write. I treat all my business letters the same way. Every one of my customers is Very Important and most of my correspondances go to Top Officers. I guess the difference between a normal letter and a VITO letter is the size of the business. In small businesses, VITO's tend to read their own mail. In large businesses, VITO's often have a secretary (or gatekeeper) that pre-screens the mail. As far as a template goes, I'm not sure that using a template is a good idea. An intelligent VITO (which most are) will see right through a templated form-letter. *crinkle crinkle* Right into the trash. Personalize, Get to the point and follow-up with a phone call... Remember, never start the call off with "did you get the letter I sent you?" Assume they got the letter and automatically get into rehashing the material you sent. Write your letter and remember their all very important clients.

Dave, thats not what VT meant. A VITO letter is a letter writing with direction from a particular book called "Selling To VITOs" It gives specific directions on what to include in your letter and where. I would definitely recomend reading it if you do any kind of sales.

As for the original question, I'm working on one right now. I'm going after a new target market where reachingt them by phone is very difficult so the letter is only cost-effective way in my mind. I'll post something when I'm closer to finishing off. Feel free to post yours as you progress. We might be able to help each other out.
