Hmm... building a business plan would be a long process which would probably take months to complete if information from forums is to be the main source.

As to your marketing strategy, I'd say that printing a few hundred copies of the magasine and going around local book stores would be a good start. People will want to see first what it is that you offer before they agree to sell it.

I would also start selling online subscriptions in places like Ebay. It could help you establish a market which would make it easier to get into the national and international book stores.

If you have the money, an agent might be well worth the investment. They already know the people that make these decisions...

Not much help I suppose, but if it doesn't help you, maybe someone else can make use of this info. That's the beauty of forums.

t all depends where you are. In the Uk there are basically two distributors of magazines to almost the whole of the UK. They just control the market place. I haven't got a clue about the rest of the world though as I have never used them.

You say you have the product and the printers, are they also typesetting it for you, or are you doing this in house? My advice to you is that unless you have a LOT of money forget trying to get it distributed via stores as it is going to be a non starter. Stores take mags on a sale or return basis, if they don't sell, then they get returned to you and you get no money.

I would go down the route suggested above and build up a cult following. There are many ways you can do this and many guerrilla tactics you can use to generate word of mouth before launch.

anyone know of any good printers that would be good for printing magazines and what type of paper is used for magazines. I would like to print the magazines myself instead of having a printer do it. I think it would save $
