Eria, I think freelancing is a part of the big world of online business. Online business can range from owning a professional webpage/ product to the part-time jobs like ad-typing, surveys completion, email reading, etc etc. Freelancing is a part of online business where you use the internet to advertise your availability for a particular job. Infact, freelancing online is no way different from the freelancing offline. Online, you get access to the entire world; offline, you are restricted to a certain zone. Time is another factor. Things happen faster online than offline. I guess I can put it this way: Online business is the father (or mother??). Freelancing is one of the many children that online business bears :-)

So, is there any criteria for choosing the way of online business and freelancing online or offline? What type of jobs you can categorize in offline and online freelancing?

I think it's safe to say that if you can perform a task that someone will pay you to do and you aren't considered their employee, it's freelancing. I've seen folks doing everything from resumes to website design to research papers to server maintainence. And online, it's a wide open opportunity.

As Rowan put it right, online freelancing is an open opportunity. It can vary depending on your interests- photography, typing, webpage designing, transcription, anything that you are competent in. I can't think of offline and online freelancing as separate entities. It all centres around freelancing - being your own boss and working at your desired pace, and doing what you love.

Erie, are these sites you mentioned free to register or do they have membership charge? I am vexed with getting into sites only to find you have to pay before getting their information.
