Default Google Adsense: Thoughts & Comments?

Hi,

I am exploring my options for advertisements to generate some type of revenue for a site that is currently in progress. I was wondering if anyone here on this board has used "Google Adsense." In particular, has anyone experienced much success with including the ads on their page? Moreover, what type of income (how much) could be generated with this method of advertisement? I understand that it depends largely on the traffic for the site. Please give me an idea (for example, how much revenue would 1k, 5k, 10k impressions would entail). What percentage of those impressions, statistically, would generate a click? Also, how much does Google Adsense pay per click? In addition, I am interested in the users attitude towards these types of advertisements. Has anyone received any negative e-mails/comments relating to the use of Adsense? Any information would be of assistance and greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Unfortunately... many of your questions cannot be answered. It is against Google's Terms of service to discuss clickthrough rates and impressions. Income on the other hand -- is allowed. Truth be told... I know of sites that make several hundred to a thousand dollars a month on Adsense revenue... or more.

It all depends on how much traffic you get to your site, and how targeted the content is. The longer you can keep someone at the site... and the more often you can make them come back... the more income you can make.

You can make anywhere from a few cents to a couple dollars PER CLICK!

It depends on what the advertisers pay for the adwords ad.

I'm just getting started with my Adsense site so I don't have much data for you, but you can do quite well putting Adsense on your page. That's for sure!

Here's my site if you care to take a look:

I am giving Adsense a shot and so far it is working better then LinkShare. The clicks really vary, but I got $.71 for one click, which I thought was pretty nice.

Sir Yellow, Where did you see that it was against Google Policy to discuss click through rates? I searched high and wide and did not find this in the following https://www.google.com/adsense/policies.

My personal experience with google adsense was not good. The problem is your get clicks that are not relevant sometimes, due to googles keyword targeting techniques. Google is a awesome resource, but only for organice results (not paid results in the search area) seem to be better for your cost vs return ratio.

Also since it is becoming so popular for all these sidebar ads, its not an EXCITING element on a page anymore, which means the web surfer will ignore it. Just like banner ads have been played out. just my $0.02

I just launched my website with two advertisers, Adsense and CJ

The combo of the two have been doing well....

Yes, the sidebar is getting played out, but there are many styles of ads you can pick from adsense.

If you take a look at my website i used both ADSENSE TEXT AND IMAGE ADS

Can you make money with adsense?

Yes you can

I launched my website with adsense in place, and started to make money from the first day. This is the second week my website has been up, and ive a little more money everyday!!!

The key is traget traffic!!!

You asked where Google forbids the discussion of click-through rates, etc...

It's in their terms & condititions at https://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms

Confidentiality. You agree not to disclose Google Confidential Information without Google's prior written consent. "Google Confidential Information" includes without limitation: (a) all Google software, technology, programming, specifications, materials, guidelines and documentation relating to the Program; (b) click-through rates or other statistics relating to Site performance in the Program provided to You by Google; and (c) any other information designated in writing by Google as "Confidential" or an equivalent designation. However, You may accurately disclose the amount of Google’s gross payments to You pursuant to the Program. Google Confidential Information does not include information that has become publicly known through no breach by You or Google, or information that has been (i) independently developed without access to Google Confidential Information, as evidenced in writing; (ii) rightfully received by You from a third party; or (iii) required to be disclosed by law or by a governmental authority.

So you can say, "I made $680 this month" but you can't say I had 2400 visitors and a clickthrough rate of 8.8%.

Hope that helps!

Hi everyone, my experience has being very good with Adsense. I've used a combination of Adsense, CJ, and Clickbank. With Adsense I save time on not having to find the products or service that goes with the content. It keeps things simple, I simply put an Adsense banner on a page and only concern myself with the content of my page.

btw, I find that side ads don't work as well as centered ads. If you look at a site such as www.AGuideToStartingABusiness.com you'll see only center ads.

my 2 cents

Thank you all for your comments. What other methods of advertisements are there besides CPC & affiliate programs and banner & skyscraper advertisements? Also, is it best to approach a large corporate company to ask if they want to advertise on your site or wait until they come to you?

Thanks!
