Hello All,
Well, it looks like my full time job is about to disappear (merger that'll most likely axe my position) so I'm looking to start another "career".
I've been reading around here for several months and I think it's time to take the plunge and start my own business. I've been into cars for 20 years; I'm a former certified mechanic, I've restored a couple of classic cars, in process of restoring a classic Trans Am, and I have a '69 Firebird show car. I've bought and sold numerous cars over the years. I'm actually at my state's limit of 5 for the past year.
Based on that and to save on the sales tax that I have to pay now when I register a car in my name, I've decided to go ahead and get my dealers license. I plan to start selling out of my home. I live on a main road in the county (no zoning restrictions) with plenty of space to display the cars plus I've bought and sold a few on ebay so I may do that some more.
Anyway, the point of my post is to "phish" for ideas, thoughts and/or suggestions from others. Anyone have any advice to give me on starting the business or any advice related to finding/selling cars?
Anyone else in the car business?
